Can a European shopper find the things your store is expected to publish?
We open the four policy URLs Shopify gives every store, plus the usual legal-notice and contact pages, and read what is actually printed on them — the return window, who the trader is, how to reach a human. We report what is on the page. What the law asks of your particular business is a separate question, for your own adviser.
Based on publicly available data only. Informational, not legal advice.
What this checks
- Whether /policies/refund-policy, shipping-policy, privacy-policy and terms-of-service each return a page with real text on it
- Whether the refund policy writes the return window as a number of days
- Whether the shipping policy says how long delivery takes and how the cost is worked out
- Whether a trader name, a postal address and a direct contact detail appear on those pages
- Whether the home page gives an email address or phone number, or only a form
- Whether a legal-notice / Impressum / contact page answers at the usual URLs
- Whether prices are described as tax-inclusive, and whether shipping is said to be added later
FAQ
Does a red line here mean I am breaking the law?
No. This is an information check, not legal advice. It reports only what text we could and could not find on your public pages. What any given rule requires depends on the legal entity you trade through, which countries you sell into, and what you sell — a question for a qualified adviser, not for a scanner.
Why do some rows say “could not tell”?
We read the HTML as the server sends it and do not run JavaScript, so a footer or a policy body that is injected after load is invisible to us. Some stores also answer 200 for every URL, which makes a real page indistinguishable from a catch-all. In both cases we mark the row unknown instead of inventing a pass or a fail.
Does it check every page in my store?
No. It reads the home page, the four /policies/ URLs, three commonly used legal-notice and contact URLs, one product page, and — if your store advertises another language — one translated policy page. That is the whole sample, and every finding says which page it came from.

We are a Shopify studio. The audit is free; the fix is yours to make — or ours to ship.
